After the trade of Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce occurred, the Brooklyn Nets now are actually have a legitimate chance to beat the triumphant trio of the Miami Heat and compete for an NBA title. The Brooklyn Nets have a balanced starting core, the only thing that is questionable is the chemistry issue. Just the start of last year, the Los Angeles Lakers had one of the best starting five on paper (Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant, Metta World Peace, Pau Gasol and Dwight Howard). However that starting five failed due to serious injuries but most importantly chemistry issues with Dwight and Kobe not getting along with sharing the ball. The same fate can become of the Nets as well, and I’m sure Miami Heat fans want the Brooklyn Nets to fail.
But here’s why they won’t:
1- First off, the Brooklyn Nets are obtaining a Kevin Garnett who is fiercely a defensive minded player, has strong leadership qualities and most importantly championship experience. He can mentor Brook Lopez and help him become a dominant presence in the post, not only that Kevin Garnett does a little bit of everything from getting loose balls, setting screens for players, shot blocking presence, etc.
2- Secondly, all five players complement one another and don’t overlap their duties and positions. This is a major contrast to what LeBron James and Dwayne Wade do. Since both actually similar roles to their teams.
3- Lastly, the Brooklyn Nets are the underdogs and really do not have the pressure to succeed compared to Miami Heat. When the Miami Heat trio formed, they claimed to win multiple championships. When the Brooklyn Nets came together, they stated to want to compete for a championship. So the pressure is still on the Heat to win a third consecutive championship.
So you see the Brooklyn Nets do have a legitimate chance in competing against the Miami Heat and embarrassing the Miami Heat. It’s going to be a very interesting upcoming NBA season!
